End Time Prophecies Have To Do With You

The year 2000, the start of a new millennium, is fast approaching. For certain religious groups that believe in an apocalyptic vision of the "End Times," this dramatic turn of the century signals tremendous upheaval in the world, a period when chaos will prevail. The year 2000 is also when many people expect the Y2K computer "bug" to cause worldwide problems, including the disruption of electricity, water services, food delivery, banking systems and transportation, leading to a complete breakdown in society. In the minds of certain Christian evangelicals, the Second Coming of Jesus and the upheaval related to the Y2K bug are inextricably linked -- the Y2K bug being a sure "sign" of the "Tribulation" predicted in the Christian Bible.
The timing of Christ's return was the source of quite a bit of confusion in the first century, and so Peter reminds his audience that a tremendous amount of God's Word has to do with that very topic. The Bible contains a solid foundation for at least a general understanding of the end times, even though the exact timing is not spelled out. They argue, therefore, that the scriptures require new interpretation and that they are uniquely qualified to offer that interpretation. False prophets and false teachers are those who declare that the Prophet Joseph Smith was a duplicitous deceiver; they challenge the First Vision as an authentic experience. They declare that the Book of Mormon and other canonical works are not ancient records of scripture. They also attempt to redefine the nature of the Godhead, and they deny that God has given and continues to give revelation today to His ordained and sustained prophets.

And, as verse 40 shows, this European power bloc will also fight against the Islamic power bloc to the south. If our nations would return to God with heartfelt repentance, and begin to keep His laws and live His way, then these plagues need not come. But how many of you believe this will really happen? How many of you believe that our nations will have a heartfelt repentance and get back to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel?

Some prophets are church leaders, while others operate independently. There are no official requirements for prophet status, though followers generally expect prophets to get at least a few prophecies right. Each Friday this month we have tied the “signs” Jesus gave to us in Matthew 24, to documented recent history and current events.
Believe what The Great Controversy says about the end time setting when the shaking and sifting of the church will take place. Yes, we are to make friends with people, but we are never to compromise and engage in religious ecumenical activity. The time will come when we will face terrible oppression so now we must never compromise in the least on our beliefs and doctrines. In fact, our church members long to hear messages regarding conviction and affirmation for the biblical beliefs of our Advent movement. When you preach, I urge you to give the trumpet a certain sound, the sound of heaven and its final messages of Bible truth.

He shared heavenly previews of future events, such as telling a mother her little son would become pope and canonize him — which happened as the boy became Callixtus III. (At the canonization Vincent Ferrer’s body was found incorrupt.) Earlier, during a Barcelona famine, he announced two ships were coming loaded with corn. Any doctrine can be twisted in such a way that our actions are an abuse of truth.

To a certain extent, my use of the term prophetic politics builds on Donald Dayton's discussion of pentecostal eschatology. By placing the return of Christ before the millennium,” marked their eschatology as apocalyptic. The late Christopher Hitchens called this attitude “a contempt for all things of this world” – an acceptable form of nihilism.
In this episode, Tim and Jon answer your questions about how to read apocalyptic literature. Sometimes it’s hard to see light and hope in the midst of all the suffering and pain that surrounds us. Just this year, we’ve seen incredible evil take many innocent lives. We’ve seen terrorist attacks and heard rumors of war. We’ve seen hurricanes and natural disasters wreak havoc in different places around the globe. Top news headlines reveal constant struggles, pain, and brokenness that people everywhere are facing.

He tells us what sorts of things are coming and how to prepare for them. In that way, he prepares us to stand firm in the storm and to stand ready to meet him when he returns. ” often leads people into unwise and unhealthy speculation, so immediately he clarified what he was saying. His answer in Luke 21 addresses both the more immediate question of the destruction of the temple and the bigger question of the world's end. This dual perspective was necessary because what Jesus said about the temple made people think about the final judgment, and Jesus wanted to put both events into their proper perspective. At the same time there was a terrible earthquake that destroyed a tenth of the city.
Not sure, but I figure it’s the 12 Apostles after Matthias replaces Judas Iscariot plus all the other first leaders of the church like Paul, Luke, Mark, Silas, Stephen, John the Baptist, etc. Then, in heaven, the Temple of God was opened and the Ark of his covenant could be seen inside the Temple. Lightning flashed, thunder crashed and roared, and there was an earthquake and a terrible hailstorm.
